Back to the advent of computer sound.. it seems like a thousand years ago, and yet it was only 1989. Once again, the computer is helping to make history in France on July 14, 1790. |
Pen, ink and watercolour is still my favourite method of illustration despite the ease and availability of digital drawing tablets. My illustrations are usually whimsical, detailed and richly coloured.
I usually start with an idea, which I then research in terms of color, costume, style, fabric and architecture. Somehow they manage to meld in my mind and I begin with a pencil sketch- small- to work out the spatial details. Once I am satisfied, I then pencil in the larger version before painting and finally using india ink. |
